The open oceans are acidifying quickly, due to human introduction of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. Lamont scientists study living plankton and ancient fossils to chart and understand the processes involved. Here, Lamont geochemist Bärbel Hönisch dives off the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico for live plankton.
